Sudanese Canadian artist, Mustafa Ahmed, or Mustafa the Poet, composed the roughly two-minute-and-thirty-second video. It features many global celebrities, including Hollywood actors Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Allen White, and Jodie Turner-Smith, and singer-songwriters Shawn Mendes and Kehlani, among others.

Ruffalo’s “Oh Sudan, Oh Palestine” sets the tone of the video, highlighting the sorrowful nature of the state of the people affected by the Israel-Palestine conflict and the countless lives it has taken. Seven-time F1 champion Lewis Hamilton also appears briefly, reciting some lines.

“I call out: You who are pouring forth like rainfall,” he begins. “Don’t you recall our times together? In a field of ember, we’ve been waiting for you.”

Towards the end of the video, the names of the late poets whose verses were included in the video appear on screen. In the caption of the IG post, Mustafa the Poet explained the inspiration behind the piece and also expressed his gratitude to the artists who featured in the video. He wrote:

“The words here are by dead poets from Sudan and Palestine- many of them murdered before their time. This is a cento we made for them, for what they left behind. A cento is a poem composed entirely of verses taken from other poems, it was arranged by myself and Safia Elhillo- recited by these beautiful artists I have the gift of knowing- all of whom answered my call immediately. Scored by the only Dev Hynes. Head to artistsforaid.org to donate aid to both countries and receive livestream details for our show on the 10th. The poet lives forever. Edited by: Anthony Miralles Score by: Dev Hynes.”

Despite having to constantly attend to his F1 duties year-round, Lewis Hamilton has always voiced his stance on the pressing problems in the world. The Briton went through a rough childhood, including facing blatant racism in school. His struggles made him envision a better world, and he has also previously condemned the Israel-Palestine conflict.

In July 2025, Lewis Hamilton spoke up about the atrocities during the Israel-Palestine conflict. In the first week of that month, over 100 children in Gaza reportedly lost their lives to Israeli strikes.

The Ferrari driver couldn’t stay silent on the matter in the ongoing conflict and shared his feelings about it via Instagram Stories. He wrote:

“It’s hard to find the words to express the total devastation I feel seeing what is happening in Gaza. Children are starving while humanitarian organisations are unable to safely deliver people food, clean water, medical supplies – the most basic human needs. There is no justification for this.”

He asked the international community to take accountability and speak up against the war, adding:

“The silence and lack of action from the international community will be judged by future generations. Every day that passes without allowing aid to safely reach Palestinians, and without a ceasefire, more lives are lost. Those in power must do everything they can to end this suffering, and they must do it now.”

On the F1 front, Lewis Hamilton will enter his second season with Ferrari in 2026, as the sport enters a new technical era.
